Sumerian king list – Written on clay tablets after 2100 BC; probably the world’s oldest historical record.
11,000 BC – Ice spread down from the polar caps almost to the Mediterranean Sea. The melting of these ice caps, over the next few thousand years, changed the climate and topography of the Middle East.
Alulim – According to the Sumerian king list, Alulim was the first Sumerian king. The Sumerians believed that he had ruled over Eridu for almost 30,000 years.
Eridu – Known as the “Sumerian Eden.” A walled city in Mesopotamia which was, according to Sumerian accounts of history, ruled by the early Sumerian kings.
