Do Now—Exercise 19C—Model answer: After Thutmose III died, the Mitanni king Saustatar encouraged the new Egyptian provinces in Canaan to revolt. Thutmose’s son, Amenhotep II, marched his army north to reconquer his inherited territory. When the Mitanni and Egyptian forces faced each other, however, they decided to sue for peace. This peace continued through the next generation, when Thutmose IV married the daughter of Saustatar’s son, Artadama.
