Ankhesenamun – Ankhesenamun was the wife of Tutankhamun. When Tutankhamun died, she tried to marry a Hittite prince, but ended up married to her grandfather, Ay. Assur-uballit – Assur-uballit was the Assyrian king that fought against the Mitanni and reclaimed the title of Great King. Ay – Ay was the maternal grandfather of Ankhesenamun. He married Ankhesenamun after Tutankhamun died, and served as pharaoh until his death four years later. Tutankhaten/Tutankh-Amun – Tutankhaten became pharaoh of Egypt after the plague killed most of the royal family. Tutankhaten changed his name to Tutankh-Amun in order to reflect his devotion to Amun. Horemheb – Horemheb was a member of the Egyptian army since the days of Amenhotep III. He thwarted the marriage of Ankhesenamun to a Hittite prince, and named himself pharaoh after the death of Ay. Childless, Horemheb hand-picked his successor, Paramesse/Rameses I, who became the first pharaoh of Dynasty 19.
