Do Now—Exercise 25D Model answer: In the bull-dance, worshippers leaped over, on, and around angry bulls, trying to avoid being trampled or gored. Archeologists who excavated Knossos found interconnected hallways, portals, and stairs leading to the Bull Courts from the surrounding palace – a maze similar to the mythological labyrinth built by Daedalus. The ritual specialists who took part in the bull-dance were likely young athletes trained to sacrifice their lives much like the fourteen young Athenian men and women who were sent as sacrificial tribute to the Minotaur.
