Do Now—Exercise 28A:

Copy the following notes verbatim for Ch. 45:

Meshwesh – Meshwesh was the name of the hired mercenaries from Libya used by the Egyptian priests of Amun to back up their authority against the pharaohs of Dynasty 21.

Sheshonq – Sheshonq, a Libyan warrior, was the Great Chief of the Meshwesh, hired by Egyptian powers in the north. He created an alliance with southern Egyptian royals by marrying one of the daughters of the pharaoh at Tanis. When the pharaoh died, Sheshonq asserted his right to power over both the north and south of Egypt.

In seven or more complete sentences, discuss the politics in Canaan and the kingdom of Israel between 1050 and 931 B.C. (Ch. 45). Consider Hebrews, Philistines, Phoenicians, and Egyptians in your answer. Number your sentences.
