Ecbatana – Ecbatana was built at the behest of Deioces, the first leader elected to rule over the Median tribes. Ecbatana stood on the eastern slopes of Mount Orontes, had seven circular walls, and was the Median capital.

Madius – Madius was a Scythian warlord who, after helping Ashurbanipal repel the Cimmerians, Medes, and Persians, declared himself “Madius the Scythian, King of the Medes and Persians”.
